My love of food and cooking began at a very young age. Growing up in a family as the oldest of four siblings, I was always helping my mom with the “little ones” and the kitchen was naturally my favorite place to lend a hand. Little did I know at the time that helping others to achieve a healthier life through food and nutrition would eventually become my passion.
I have been working in the culinary industry since 1995. Prior to moving to the US, I owned and managed, with my family, a restaurant in Uruguay, South America. In addition to hands-on training at the restaurant, I began my formal culinary education with courses on basic cooking techniques during college.
In 2001 my husband and I moved to Connecticut, where I gained exposure to a wide variety of culinary traditions and techniques. I studied at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition with Columbia University in New York City and became a Board Certified Health Counselor by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners upon completion of a year-long training program. This program prepared me to address all facets of health, including nutrition, relationships, exercise, career, and spirituality, in order to help my clients lead healthier and happier lives. I am also a graduate of the Culinary Business Academy’s Professional Personal Chef Training Program (Atlanta, GA) and Premier Member of the United States Personal Chef Association. Through this training I expanded my knowledge of culinary techniques, how to tailor meals to diverse nutritional needs and tastes, and the practical aspects of running a personal chef service.
I continue to expand my expertise in cooking and nutrition at Natural Gourmet Insitute and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), with the Immersion Program and as a Lifelong Learning Student. I passed the National Registry Of Food Safety Professionals’ exam to become Certified Food Safety Manager. In order to develop Clean Food For Your Type’s concept I have worked consistently with bussiness coach Ana Laura Sposito from Mentor Group since 2015 and have taken online classes in nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics at the Universidad de Barcelona IL3 in 2016.
As part of my work as a health coach, I have offered free seminars about Sugar Blues, Bio-Individuality and The Integrative Nutrition Twelve Steps Plan for the Hispanic community in Connecticut and at consulates in New York City. In 2016, and with Clean Food 4 Ur Type in mind, I started to offer Hands-On Basic Cooking Classes and Detox Do It Yourself seminars.
My mission is to help others achieve a healthier, happier life through food and nutrition. In my work as a personal chef and health coach, I have witnessed firsthand the positive effects of a diet that is well-planned, composed of fresh ingredients and crafted with love and expertise. With rates of diabetes, obesity and heart disease on the rise, our eating habits evidently need serious reassessment. Chemically altered foods, fad diets and busy schedules have all moved us further away from enjoying well-balanced meals.
